About Barbara

Horses have been my lifeblood since I was a kid. Headstrong ponies, gentle giants – I loved them all. That passion led me straight into the show pen, where I spent years competing with my trusty steeds.

While I was racking up ribbons, I also tackled academics. Baylor University gave me a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Professional Writing, all while I honed my riding skills with the NCAA Baylor Women’s Equestrian Team. After graduation in 2013, I knew I wasn’t done learning. Arkansas Tech University became my next stop, where I traded pen and paper for a camera and editing software, earning a Master of Art in Multimedia Journalism in 2015.

Those multimedia skills landed me a job with the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, right in the heart of Richwood, Ohio, where the All American Quarter Horse Congress takes place. Talk about a dream come true!

These days, I’m back in Arkansas, working as the Multimedia Specialist at Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative Corporation.  It’s a great way to stay connected to my hometown and communities across the River Valley I call home. But my love for horses and storytelling never sleeps. I have published articles in the AQHA Journal, Quarter Horse News, The Equine Chronicle, Show Horse Today, and more.
